Rotary Celebrates Historic Milestone: 3 Billion Children Vaccinated Against Polio
Published on 6/10/2025
Today marks a historic achievement in global health as Rotary International announces that over 3 billion children have been vaccinated against polio since the launch of the PolioPlus program in 1985.
"This milestone demonstrates what's possible when organizations unite for a common cause," said Rotary International President Gordon McInally. "We're closer than ever to eradicating polio completely, with only two endemic countries remaining."
The achievement comes as Rotary members worldwide continue their fundraising efforts, having contributed more than $2.6 billion to the cause. Every dollar raised is matched 2:1 by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, tripling the impact of each donation.
