Local Club Partners with Kenyan Community to Bring Clean Water to 5,000 Residents

After two years of planning and collaboration, our Rotary club celebrated the completion of a life-changing water project in Makueni County, Kenya. The project, funded through a $75,000 Rotary Global Grant, has brought clean, safe drinking water to over 5,000 residents in three villages.

"Access to clean water is a basic human right," said project lead Sarah Thompson. "This project will reduce waterborne diseases by an estimated 80% and free up hours each day that children previously spent fetching water, allowing them to attend school instead."

The project included drilling three new boreholes, installing solar-powered pumps, and establishing water kiosks managed by local community groups. Rotarians from our club traveled to Kenya to assist with installation and provide training on maintenance and sustainability.
